Huawei: The corporation that practices CSR through sustainability

Imagine a world where communication is smooth, quick, and consistent. Huawei is a Chinese telecommunications company that sets these high standards. Established in 1987 by the former PLA officer Ren Zhengfi, this company has been at the forefront of telecommunications equipment, consumer electronics, smart devices and solar energy. Not Just in China but all over the world, this company has acted as a source for the technological revolution. The company has stationed itself in over 170 countries with roughly 3 billion users worldwide. Huawei is a corporation that has invested a lot of its time into research and innovation. It’s a company that pushes new ideas to enhance its products and keep consumers invested.

One of the ways in which Huawei has become a prime example of corporate social responsibility is through sustainability. Huawei wants the safety and well-being of humanity to be of paramount importance. As climate change, pollution, and other environmental disasters continue to threaten Earth, Huawei has chosen to combat these ongoing disasters by developing sustainability strategies. One of the strategies the corporation tends to focus on is digital inclusion. Digital inclusion would allow people from all over the world to conserve biodiversity and manage natural resources through the use of digital technology. For instance, coral reefs have suffered from over-pollution in the past several years. Now with the technology created By Huawei, scientists can plant and regrow coral fragments in the reefs such as the coast of Mauritius.

Another way in which Huawei advocates for sustainability is through environmental protection. Huawei has done this by coming up with ideas that reduce carbon emissions and normalize the practice of using clean energy. One example that demonstrates Huawei’s efforts to promote clean energy is a hybrid fishery solar plant located in the Shandong province. The area where this solar plant lies used to be filled with salt. Similar to the reefs in Mauritius, Aquaculture was being tested in this province. Now with the help of smart PV panels, the project is able to generate at least 400 KWh a year. This project will ensure that electricity is generated in a sustainable and innovative way.

This world is far from perfect in terms of sustainability. If the world is ever to reach the prime definition of habitable and healthy, humans must act now. one must do everything to ensure the environment is not being degraded. One should also learn more about the companies that initiate productive corporate social responsibility to find out how to help. Huawei is just one corporation that represents this strategy to build a better future.
